Stopping en route to take on the odd job to earn money for his keep, this young man finally arrived in Paris, two long years after his departure from Anchay. At the age of 13, Louis Vuitton packed his bags and set off on a journey to Paris to seek out his fortune - on foot. Following his mother’s death when he was just 10, Louis’ father remarried and his wicked stepmother set out to make his life impossible. Louis Vuitton was born in 1821 in Anchay, a hamlet in the Jura Mountains close to the Swiss border.
